07-Jan: Mountain View, day one

Hi, fellow readers! January is going to be a month full of events. I’ve just arrived in Mountain View, California, where I’ll spend the full month with my Google colleagues to do some training and get in touch with the rest of the team ( my team is partially located in Dublin, where I work, and partially, mostly actually, in Mountain View ).

I’ve just jumped off the plane (it actually landed 4 hours ago), so I’m not going to write anything really interesting. I’m trying to survive the jet-lag ( according to my biological watch it should be midnight right now, but for some mysterious reason the sun is still shining outside ), but I can cope with it as long as there’s some coffee available near me: my daily count is currently reporting 3 americanos and 2 espressos.

The only photos I’m posting now are the ones of the car Google rented for me. There are only two possibilities: either Google is very generous when it comes to rented cars for visiting employees or the american standard for intermediate car is something completely out of scope for an european guy. I mean, you’re never ever going to drive or park something like this in Dublin and/or in the city centre of Bologna.

Anyway, I like these American guys:
  • they drive on the right (as opposed to wrong ) side of the road
  • they have a nice climate even if it’s January ( at least in California )

I’ll promise to keep you up-to-date in the following days. I’ve also some many news related to Borg ... the time spent on the plane was so boring that I actually sketched the design for B.E.E.F. : the Borg Elegant Editing Framework :-) . A lot of photos too, so stay tuned !

Citando il mio manager: "you don't want to drive a Ford Focus, right?!?"

I bet California in Winter is much better than Washington metro area in Summer.

Enjoy.
